The Best Thing I Ever Ate - Sandwiches

I grew up in Western PA and was fortunate enough to visit architect Frank Lloyd Wright's unique home called Falling Water. I loved the house and became a fan of his homes and buildings. Another fortunate thing for me is I moved to Arizona where Frank Lloyd Wright had a home and architecture school called Taliesen West. He built many homes and buildings here and I have visited a few of them. He assisted in the creation of the Biltmore hotel in Phoenix where there is a restaurant inspired by his architecture called Frank and Alberts. We have gone here for my birthday for a few years now, and I love it!

Lobster Roll at Frank and Alberts
Last year I got this lobster roll sandwich, and it is the best sandwich I have ever had. My birthday is in a couple of weeks and I am hoping this is back on the menu! They even have a hamburger so the picky husband doesn't mind going here at all.

What is the best sandwich you ever ate?

  1. Your sandwich looks like the best sandwich! I think you should re-create it and post it :) We just went to Red Lobster on Saturday and I had cajun shrimp it was sooo good, wish I knew how to duplicate it. Best sandwich...a deli in the next city from me. Best reuben evah!!

  2. I am not a huge fan of mayo, but when my Mom went to vacation in Cape Cod, she had one of those almost every time she saw it on the menu it was so good!

Wow, hard to say - but I've had REALLY great Reuben sandwiches - ones that were perfectly grilled, the corned beef super tender, not too much dressing and lots of sauerkraut - yum!

  3. I have never been a huge sandwich eater, but the best ones I ever had came from a small family owned grocery/deli back home in California. It was your basic deli sandwich but so full of flavor that most deli's now a days would be put to shame. Perfect hard crusted sour dough roll, loaded high with turkey (1/2 pound average even thought they didn't weigh it), munster cheese, crispy lettuce, fresh tomatoes that came from a real garden, not a hothouse, a bread & butter pickles. They used a mixture of mayo and mustard that just topped it off. 25 years later I still can not find sandwiches that taste as good.

  4. I love sandwiches! I've had many fantastic ones but one thing that pops in my head is the eggplant sandwich I had at Locanda Verde in New York :)

  5. Wow, this sandwich does look fantastic!
I make this sandwich which is a Ina Garten recipe, made on Ciabatta bread with layers of chicken, sun dried tomatoes, parmesan cheese, baby arugula and a caesar dressing. It tastes heavenly!

  6. I'm a sandwich kind of girl too. And it doesn't get much better than a lobster roll.

  9. I have never had a lobster roll but I really want to, I know I'd love it! Two of my favorite things in one (lobster and a sandwich), what's not to love? It looks fabulous. And happy early birthday! Best I ever had would be hard b/c I eat a LOT of sandwiches but I did just have a great one in Abilene at Amanda's Bakery and Bistro-the turkey bacon melt with cranberry mayo and swiss cheese, grilled panini style on Italian bread. So good!
