Favorite Things #15 - Pyrex

I have been suffering from a mild to moderate case of 'Pyrexia' for several years. The major symptom is wanting to buy every piece of cute Pyrex you can get your hands on. Other symptoms include browsing flickr to see what other Pyrex people have that you do not, and searching ebay for anything that might fulfill that wish list. So far I have managed to fill all of my Pyrex needs through thrift and antique stores, but someday I might just move into that 'severe' category and start buying from Ebay.

So here is a peek into my main Pyrex storage...

Pyrex storage
It is fairly organized and I can get to most of the pieces pretty easily. Of course that is not all of it...

Pyrex overflow :)
This would be my overflow cabinet. This is for less used items, rare items, and things that just do not stack nicely. Some non Pyrex items have infiltrated, but it is mostly my collection.

There may or may not be more Pyrex stored in various places throughout my house (I forgot about all of my mugs...), but I really do use 90% of what I have collected over the years. I totally blame Flickr for this collecting craze I went into, that is where I first stumbled upon some pictures of other people's collections.

Do you collect something? If so, what is it and how did you get started?

  3. I collect vintage cookbooks. My idea of "vintage" being anything pre-1970. My mom gave me one from the 1800's that has a recipe for GIRAFFE, and tells you how to set your castle table if you are to have the royal family over for dinner. Pretty cool stuff. They are pretty hilarious. It definitely is a space consuming addiction and I had to make some decisions about ones to get rid of recently :(

    I love your pyrex!

  4. That is an amazing collection. I'm not much of a collector. We moved too much over the years to make it practical, but I love to see what other people treasure. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary

  5. You are the Pyrex Queen!! :) I used to run a duck farm at my house, so I have a collection of ducks. Wood, glass, porcelain and even some stuffed. I also have a small collection of John Deere items...the colors match my kitchen and I live in farm country.

  7. Oh wow! Amazing! I love it all. I'm definitely jealous. :) I don't really collect anything. I just collect functional, simple and eco-friendly items for my kitchen. But nothing in a major theme.

  8. That is so cool! I must admit, I hardly have any Pyrex,so I am totally jealous! I am so eclectic, I love lots of little things, but nothing really matches or is the same theme!

  9. Somehow I've only ever stumbled across really boring Pyrex in my life. Maybe that's why I don't have such an obsession. But yours are so cute...maybe I need to start collecting.

  10. I love your cupboards! Wish I had that much pyrex. My mom and grandma had loads of it when I was growing up - I always get nostolgic (sp?) when I see old patterns.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
