The Person Behind The Plate #6

My sister sent me a book last week called The Introvert Advantage. I am most definitely an introvert and reading this has been pretty enlightening. I often wonder about bloggers and whether this is a social outlet for them in lieu of actually going out and meeting with people face to face.

I also think the irony of me eating alone while reading this book is pretty funny.

Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? Does blogging provide a social outlet for you?

  1. Dear Rhonda, It is a different world these days. In so many ways the internet has made the world that much smaller, though so much is lost.
One doesn't need to go actually go out as often since in so many ways the world is on a screen.

    1. no spam that isn't crazy I was born in FN extrovert and gradually have become an introvert do to life experiences. If one read my blog they would not think that I am introvert but the tough thing about blogging is that there are some big things that I cannot tell on the blog. If you do decide to read the blog first read the section says about me and then go to the very first post April 1st 2007 and then read as many posts as you desire, it will give you a definite sense of context and grasp of why I write.

  5. Well, I don't really think I'm an introvert because I love going out and mingling...but to answer your question, why do I blog??? ...Good question. I think it's because I feel more freedom to express my views without feeling I may hurt or offend someone, and that whoever takes the time to read what I write won't judge me because they don't really know me. Also I'm passionate about my baking and fashion and feel like I need to share that interest with the world.

The world is so different. I love to blog but despise the very idea that the world has grown so dependent upon the internet. People don't talk to one another anymore...they can't really connect properly because they're conversing with a 'phantom' so to speak....someone who they will never meet or really know so we might as well be talking with ourselves.

I wish there were record stores to hang out at on the weekends like I used to be able to do when I was younger but now, all music can be ripped from the computer...or go to a book store...but now even that has lost it's novelty and charm amongst a lot of people with e-readers. It's depressing how the present generation is growing up with out knowing how to socialize or connect with someone...I think they're lost because they lives revolve around this 'hypothetical' world that simply doesn't exist...only on a screen and a keyboard.

Sorry for be so...wordy. I guess I'm passionate about it. In retrospect, I wish times were simpler and people spoke more often than they do. But nothing will change...it'll only get worse with progression and technology. So c'est la vie!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my peaches, Rhonda. It was great to hear from you.

    Toodles,

    1. you make some very important points. As single, I hate that I cannot go to a coffee shop or restaurant and meet anyone because either people are already with their group of friends but more importantly they will not look up from their smart phone :-(

  6. Yup, introvert, and I enjoy connecting online (a little with blogging, but more with email and Facebook) so that I don't have to meet with people. LOL!

  8. I'm definitely an introvert (which is why I probably haven't gone to any blog conferences!) and my husband is total opposite. I don't know why we're together. j/k. Sounds like a book I should read too!

  9. I am probably more of an introvert, it depends upon the circumstances though. But blogging is a great way to connect with others. Things are so different now and there are so many options.

  10. I'm definitely not an introvert (and not a blogger, either). A friend says that I don't know strangers, just friends I haven't met yet. I am, however, a loner. Weird combination, huh?

Blogging just makes me more confident in myself!

  15. I am an extravert but I don't take up a lot of space, over friendly , loud and obnoxious it just means that I get my first energy externally...then I am exhausted and have to retreat inwardly to get more energy.
Blogging is definitely an outlet for me to share the things I enjoy.

  19. Believe it or not, I am actually an introvert. I can work a room for sure, but I usually don't want to and would rather be at home with a phenomenal book and some wine.

  20. I am definitely an introvert. I'd rather go out with a few friends for a nice dinner, or even stay home with a good book (or good blogs) than to a party or club.
