I don't know if I have mentioned on here how much I dislike baking, but I really do. But I also have a sweet tooth, so I really like candy. Like, a lot :) You can imagine my shock when I discovered there is a BIG candy store in Chandler, AZ, which is about 20 minutes from my house. The store is called Sweeties and there is one in AZ and one in Cleveland Ohio. If you click the link you can go take a look at the site, but here is the summary on the main page...
"Sweeties Candy of Arizona is Arizona's LARGEST & BEST candy store. Family owned
and operated for over 60 years. Open to the public. Specializing in all the nostalgic candies of yesterday and the new classics of today, we stock over 75,000 pounds of candy, over 3,000 items filling up 5,000 square feet of pure sugar (and sugar-free!) heaven! Come be a "kid in a candy store" once again!"
My husband and I went last weekend and it was amazing!! Check out some photos...
And here are some of the things we got...
We really were like kids in a candy store, it was so much fun! We got tons of things we remember from when we were younger. If you are ever in the Cleveland or Chandler areas, I definitely recommend you check out Sweeties.
What is your favorite candy from childhood?
My kids would love that place! I haven't had Zots in years - they were my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lot of fun. I bet you wanted to buy everything. I would not know where to begin. Blessings dear. Catherine xo
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that store was featured on a Food Network show. It's sounds/looks very familiar. I love zotz still, really just the inside :) Those pumpkin seeds are a favorite and I can get them at a local party store. He stocks them just for me! Pop rocks were always cool too. Sounds like you guys had a great time...how fun!
ReplyDeleteThis store looks like too much fun!
ReplyDeleteThere used to be a candy store called Katie's Country Candy that we used to go to when we were kids. Most scoops of the loose candy were a nickel, I always went for the most candy for the money - a Charleston Chew thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteI would eat half of eat walking home, then freeze the other half.
Ghostbusters Slimer gum. It was like...a tube of green slime that you chewed until it turned into gum. Gross, huh!
ReplyDeleteThat place is too much fun! We have a store called the "Nifty Nuthouse" that sells quality nuts, but you can also get tons of candy there too, and it reminds me of a smaller version of sweeties. It's so fun to look around at everything! Hm, my favorite childhood candy...that's kind of hard to answer b/c I wasn't allowed candy so every time I got some, it was the BEST! I think I was really partial to cherry cordials, which Mom would buy half price after Christmas and hide and I'd always find her stash-haha. Now I really don't like them that much-it's weird.
ReplyDeleteI'd have picked everything you did. Loved Zotz and Pop Rocks. I'd add Marathon Bars and Big Buddy gum but I don't think they're available. Oh and Turkish taffy. And the list goes on and on. I have a huge sweet tooth!
ReplyDeleteThis would be my version of heaven. My favorite childhood candy was/is Necco wafers.
ReplyDeleteBIG LEAGUE CHEW! I haven't seen that in years!!! That place looks like an absolute blast :) I wish there was one near me. Although...I'd proly slip into a diabetic coma if it was.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite candy as a kid (and still to this day) is the Cadbury Creme Egg. Too bad you can only get them at Easter :(
Holy candy! This looks SO awesome! I really want to go here. I have a HUGE sweet tooth. My favorite childhood candy were those warheads. SO good :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that is an amazing store, I could probably spend hours in there, how fun
ReplyDeleteMy grandkids could spend the day in there. What a selection!
ReplyDeleteUmm is this place actually heaven? Kinda looks like it.
