I know that I had already posted the best seafood I ever had, but this particular piece of fish just had to be shared with you guys.
Last September Tom and I went with his family to a wedding in Santa Barbara. The wedding was at the Four Seasons Hotel, so as you can imagine the food was spectacular. The highlight of the meal was the sea bass. I have never had this kind of fish, and I doubt I will ever have it that fresh and prepared as well.
It had a sweet yet earthy sauce and the bright fresh veggies on the top just enhanced the buttery-ness (that is not really a word) of the fish. I have never had a piece of fish that literally just melted in my mouth, it was so good.
Have you ever experienced that melt in your mouth feeling with a piece of fish?
I've been lucky to have some really exceptional fish. On top of my mind is the amazing sushi/sashimi at O ya, which for me is the best Japanese restaurant in Boston :)
ReplyDeleteOMG, you reminded me that our friends (a couple) had a wedding in Four Seasons in Sonoma, and this food was one of the best wedding food we ever had!! I still remember how great it was. Sure it's Four Seasons but it's also a wedding - you know probably prepared before and all... it was amazing. I can totally relate your experience!
ReplyDeleteAs for fish... I think I'm lucky that I came from Japan where fish is the freshest everywhere even in a small unknown diner let's say. They can't compete with fish served in San Francisco sometimes (not all, but majority I would say).
Once when we were in Laos. The fish was never identified, but it was prepared by a French expat who had open a restaurant in one of the towns we had visited. It was wonderful. That sea bass sounds amazing. Have a wonderful holiday. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteHave a stunning holidays my friend :D
ReplyDeleteBeing a veg, I can't exactly say I love fsh ;) (since I have nver tried it) but judging by your pics, I believe you :)

Why are you doing this to me? I'm not even hungry and now I'm dying for a buttery melt-in-your-mouth piece of quality sea bass that I likely will never have. Waaa! It looks incredible! I have had that melt-in-your mouth quality at home but never at restaurants. I guess I got lucky when it happened b/c I usually overcook my fish for fear of undercooking it but sometimes, perfection happens. Esp when I coat it in breadless breading (mostly parm cheese with herbs/spices)-yum.
ReplyDeleteI definitely feel that way about salmon sometimes! Sounds like a great meal!
ReplyDeleteI've never had sea bass but, have heard so much about it. Your picture though looks delish! I think the tilapia with the chile lime butter melts in your mouth, love that fish :)
ReplyDeleteI have never experienced a melt in the mouth experience with fish. I have with...ice cream, haha. But this does sound like a great meal
