Favorite Things #17 - Baseball

While I tried to convert my husband into a foodie when I first met him, his goal was to convert me into a baseball fan. His mission was far more successful than mine. He has always loved baseball, and in AZ we have access to live baseball almost year round. We host the AZ Fall League for top MLB prospects, Cactus League Spring Training and of course my beloved D-Backs. Tom is a fan of several teams, but has been a Yankees fan since he was a little kid. There was no MLB team in AZ until 1998, so he chose the Yankees as his favorite because he loved Don Mattingly. I grew up in Western PA so I still have a soft spot for the Pirates, but I have really turned into a pretty big D-Backs fan.

Here I am with my favorite player, Ryan Roberts.

I had the opportunity to meet him a couple of seasons ago at a fan event.

We also went to all of the All Star activities last year, including the game and the home run derby, it was so incredibly cool.

I am sporting my awesome Kent Tekulve Pirates T-shirt, but I am also wearing my D-Backs necklace. I told you I really like baseball!

Do you have a favorite sport or team?

  1. I grew up in a baseball family so it's always been a big part of my life! It's definitely a fun sport to get into.

  2. Not really a baseball fan but, the hubs is. I did ask him yesterday though if we could go to a local game that's about an hour away. Many people I know like to go there and the ticket prices rock, $6 or $9 for better seats. I may become a fan yet :)

  3. I love baseball, my husband didn't have to convert me. My favorite team is the Chicago White Sox - a law firm I worked at represented the Sox so every once in a while I could get our boxed seats which were awesome.

My FIL still asks me to this day why I left that firm because of the great seats!

Nope, never had Five Guys burgers - one just opened up about a week ago - so far mixed reviews, but I'll let you know! Love that they offer jalapeno peppers as a topping! :D

  4. I am not a baseball fan. I grew up in Mumbai so I don't really understand or enjoy the sports here. My husband on the other hand loves it. I went to watch a baseball match with him and was so bored.

  5. I loooovveee baseball and I am a die hard Mariners fan, even though they are no longer such a great team. Living in New York has made this really clear to me, as I get heckled by strangers any time I wear my Mariners tshirt!

  6. I used to be a big baseball fan in Japan, then came here and sort of follow SF Giants... My husband is a big fan of sports and follow a lot of teams. I should be more supportive like you. =P
