Favorite Things - #27 My Presto Popcorn Maker

Not too long ago I saw a friend post a photo of their air popcorn popper. She said she loved hers and used it all of the time. I am a popcorn fiend, but I had only ever made the microwave kind, which isn't really good for you at all. I decided to give air popping a try and I love it!

I got the simple Presto Poplite Air Popper that you can find most everywhere for about $20. I LOVE it. You don't need to use oil and it pops up a perfect batch every time.

Of course I had to get tons of fun toppings for the popcorn. I just mist it with a little olive oil and sprinkle one of these on top. My favorite so far has to be the salt and vinegar.

Do you pop your own corn at home? Do you use the microwave, a pan, or an air popper?

  1. I don't have an air popper and when I see all these blog recipes for things to do with air popped popcorn I think "why don't I have one of those??"

    I have envy. Popcorn popper envy. I'm ashamed.

  2. We had a popcorn popper like this when I was growing up, and used it ALL the time. Nowadays I make popcorn on the stovetop and cover it with melted butter, salt, and maybe some paprika or grated parmesan. :)

  3. I'm so jealous you have a popcorn maker!!!! My kids will be very amused. :D We eat popcorn on movie night, but I've never tried seasoning it. I have to try!

  5. This is great! I used to have a popcorn machine, but I don;t know what happened to it!! Which makes me very sad, maybe it's in the millions of boxes in my garage...

  6. My husband taught me the best way to make oil popped popcorn.

    We have a mesh top, kind of like when you make burgers so that oil doesn't splash? Anyway, put the oil in your pot, cover the bottom with the corn. Let it cook over medium heat. When the first kernal pops, take it off the heat, and let the kernals "cook" in the oil for 5 minutes.

    Bring the heat to high. And pop the popcorn - when the popcorn starts to slow down, remove from heat. The steam escapes through the mesh top, so its perfectly crunchy every time.

    And the fact that he puts butter and grated parmesan cheese on it, is icing on the cake! :D

  7. I got one for my 27th birthday but we only use it in spurts b/c we are lazy so when we aren't caring how fat we get, we buy the microwave kind. Dennis also loves his toppings! I've never seen the salt and vinegar kind-that sounds so good!
