When I am sick, I don't want chicken noodle soup, I want something with a kick that will get my sinuses flowing and have me sweating by the time the meal is done. My go to meal is Pho from a local place called Noodles Ranch.
If you are not familiar, Pho is a Vietnamese rice noodle soup that comes in all sorts of varieties, you can even get it with tripe, which I have tried and loved. The version I get comes with spicy chili on the side, so I can make it just as hot as I can handle. I like to bring it home and bring it to a boil and poach an egg in it as well.
If you get a chance, try some Pho!
What is your favorite thing to have when you are not feeling well?
I love this soup! In Vietnam it is served for breakfast and you can see it being eaten in outdoor cafes by folks heading to work. I can eat this at any time of day. Your recipe sounds delicious. Have a great day. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteThat soup looks awesome. I want some now! ;) Your idea of adding the poached egg...awesomeness. Guess I'm the old fashioned type, I just prefer homemade chicken noodle soup or buttered toast. That's about all I can handle when sick.
ReplyDeleteI love pho and I used to eat like 2 times a week when I was in college. It's good price, much healthier than fast food, and comforting! Now my kids love it, so we always swing by for lunch or dinner on busy weekend schedule. Now you got me crave for it!!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried it, but will have to now after reading this. It sounds good! I stick with buttered toast when sick.
ReplyDeleteYou are a very adventuresome eater! Tripe!? Wow, I'm impressed! I've never had pho but it sounds quite yummy!
ReplyDeleteI'm all about spice all the time, whether I'm sick or not! I love this pho!
ReplyDeleteI've had pho a few times and loved it!
ReplyDeleteYou just reminded me that I haven't made pho in a long time - here is my recipe! :D

When I am really sick? All I want is tomato soup and grilled cheese, or white rice with butter and salt and pepper. :D
And yes, you are not alone with a husband not liking your food!
Pho is one of my favorite soups! Especially when I'm feeling sick =)
ReplyDeleteAmen to spicy food my friend, forever :D

Sounds delicious. I love this type of meal. Blessings dear. Catherine xo
ReplyDeleteYum. I will have to try it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite things when I am sick: if I'm feeling sick but okay enough to cook it is white or chocolate gruel (sounds terrible but taste nummy poured over toast).
When I can't get off the couch to cook I ask my Skunk to get me Basil Pine Nut Soup from Eddingtons. YUM!! I have looked for a recipe for this soup all over, but thus far have been unable to replicate it.
I am familiar with pho and I love it!

P.S. feel better.
Oooh, yum! I love pho! Whenever I want something to eat late at night, there are over a dozen pho places around where I live. SO good!
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm not feeling well, I make some ginger chicken rice pudding like concoction, and it is fantastic. Makes me feel better in no time
I love a good bowl of soup, especially if it is on the spicy side. When I'm sick I have to say that chicken noodle is my pick.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I've been craving pho from a local place and now it's increased exponentially! Must stop in there soon!!! I must be weird, I dont' want anything in particular when I'm sick. I guess any sort of soup is good, to clear the sinuses.
